Community Service At Mulberry

Community-Wide Events

We hold several events for the entire community often with 200 attending.  Our Vacation Bible School program is top notch with a variety of themes, games, food, Bible lessons, and a whole lot of fun.  It is held from 6:00-8:30 PM so that parents can bring their kids and stay for an adult class led by the pastor, Rev. Chris.  We love having inter-generational events so that kids and adults can have fun and learn together.  Recently we have teamed up with Paw Creek Presbyterian Church to make it an even bigger and better event!  The weekend before Halloween we have a Fall Carnival complete with “Trunk or Treat.”  Church members decorate their cars and hand out candy in front of their trunks as they welcome children of all ages.  It’s always a big hit!  The day before Easter there is a community-wide Easter Egg Hunt that is a lot of fun for the whole family.  At Mulberry, we strive to include our surrounding community in these events with the hope that the love of Jesus Christ will touch the hearts of all who participate.

Service Opportunities

We also are involved in many service projects.  We have participated in Operation Christmas Child, battered women’s shelter, Room at the Inn, Red Cross, Second Harvest, and regularly contribute to the Loaves and Fishes food program.  Every month we collect a five cents a meal offering to help feed hungry families.  Our building is used by a variety of organizations including Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon.  Our youth and Women of the Church particularly motivate the congregation to “love our neighbor.”

Knit Wits

Glenda Brown (fifth from the right) and our Parish Nurse, Lisa Falkner, (fifth from the left) have led the Knit Wits in creating hundreds of prayer shawls to those in hospice and in the hospital, those having new babies, and those who are going through difficult times.  As these shawls wrap around the shoulders of those in hard situations, they can feel the love of God through the many hours of work put into these works of art.  In addition, our Parish Nurse has given CPR lessons, flu shots, blood pressure check-ups, nutrition and dietary classes, and assist members in doctor visits and taking medication.
